Boeing partners with Aerion to accelerate supersonic travel.

Boeing will be providing financial, engineering and industrial resources for the supersonic jets.

Boeing revealed yesterday that it had made a significant investment in the supersonic jet startup to accelerate the pace of the technological development and design of its aircraft. However, neither company disclosed the financial terms of the deal.

Apart from financial assistance, Boeing will also provide manufacturing, engineering, and flight test resources to Aerion to fly the AS2 prototype supersonic jet by 2023. The 12-seater AS2 aircraft is designed to fly up to Mach 1.4, or 1.4 times the speed of sound, which is ~70% faster than the current speed of business jets.

Flying Taxi in India

Uber wants to bring flying taxis to India but its dreams may be far from a possible take-off.
Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore are some of the most congested cities in the world, where traveling even a few kilometres can take over an hour,” Uber said in a press release. “Uber Air offers tremendous potential to help create a transportation option that goes over congestion, instead of adding to it.”

Officials in the ministry said the Uber team had come to understand “how India is thinking about this space (air taxi)” .
